He almost missed out, due to the fact they lost his paperwork-his MOS orders. (Military Occupational School) When Joel signed up for the Marines, he went into the Communication group and it had Bonus money attached to it when he completed his MOS. So, to say the least we were worried that he would not get the school/bonus since they were busily trying to find him a school. After two days filled with my paper work and waiting , the Marines got him into school. Although he had to fly down by himself the next day...he is now in Augusta, GA at Fort Gordon.
He had to wait a week and a half before his school started, but I hear that is good. A lot of his fellow Marine's have to wait a month/months till they are picked up for their schools. He is in Satellite Communications school. His school is like a 8-5 job and during the weekends he is off, but on those weekends he still has to share in some guard duty, helping to build an obstacle course, get his haircut every week!
