Worry...a Parent's job...

On Saturday, a dear friend posted some news about her DS who was assaulted and was hurt badly enough he had to have his jaw wired shut for 6 weeks. Scary, yes...we live in the same state and are within 45 min of where it happened. My prayers continue for that dear boy and his family.

Made me think of our DS who was sounds asleep upstairs after a Lock-In at our church for the young College and Career kids the night before. They played games mainly, but didn't get home till 4am. I wanted to go up and shake him awake and remind him to be EVER vigilant of his surroundings, ESPECIALLY at night. But instead I let him sleep and when he woke up and came downstairs...gave him a BIG hug and told him I loved him and to be sure whenever he is out to be always observant.

As my dear friend reminded me in her post..love them, and hug them!

My BIG Mess!

My friend, Michele and I were chatting yesterday about our craft rooms and how we needed to clean them up so we can play and create! Well, she thinks hers is messier...I don't know!!

What do you think?

Dinner w/ the Surguines

Our friends the Surguines wanted to take us out to dinner for our 25th anniversary...so they took us to Carabbas. We have known these two for 25 plus years! They even came to our wedding in Ohio, 25 yrs ago! They celebrate their 25th on Sept 9th..so we will be sure to reciprocate the dinner offer! Good food, GREAT friends! They also gave us this lovely set of cups...cute, huh!

Our 25th!

We drove up to Lancaster PA on Tuesday...the weather turned out perfect! It was up near 70 and the sun came out later in the day!

Scott took me for lunch at our fave restaurant
called Good and Plenty...its a family style rest.
where they sit you at a table for 10...with other
strangers, but they introduce you and then its like getting to know some new friends.
They then bring out the food
*family style*, where you pass around the dishes to
share like a family!
We have been going to this

rest., off and on since our oldest was a youngster.

This time though, we got a table to ourselves.(we must have looked like we were on our honeymoon! LOL!)

Because it was during the week, it was a slow day.

It was a yummy meal(NOT a place to go if you are trying to lose weight)...our fave dessert, Shoo-fly pie...here is Scott after we ate it!

We drove through the Amish countryside

and even through a covered bridge:

I even sneaked a pic of a Amish farmer getting ready to plow:

So, we got to our motel and when we got to our room,

look what was waiting for us! A basket filled with orange and root beer soda, mints, muffins, cookies and pretzels with a note wishing us a Happy Anniversary! Whta a sweet surprise!

After that large lunch, we walked around Willow Valley to walk it off...it was so pretty outside. They have a lovely pond to walk around..complete with ducks and geese, a gazebo and a mini covered bridge to walk out onto a small pennisula. Here is Scott peeping out and me enjoying the gazebo!

The last time we stayed at Willow Valley we took a picture of the kids at this same tree(it was Thanksgiving time "05) and we saw this tree again and thought it would make for an interesting picture:

We had some fun time shopping around in the local shops:Kettle Village(they even had a live petting zoo...our kids would have loved that!)...sampled some Amish treats in Bird-in the Hand, stopped at an antique shop, and lunched at a Cracker Barrel before heading back home yesterday!

I was so happy we got a chance to get away and spend some time with my sweet husband...and I look forward to our next twenty five years!
