Made a quick card last night!

I haven't been much in the mood for crafting of late. Been busy with homeschooling, DD's wedding plans, working on keeping up with my mom's bills/Medicaid stuff.
Went downstairs after dinner last night and started cleaning my table when I got in the mood to make a birthday card for an online friend...

My Happenings: Crafting and Couponing

Last week, I finally got these Cricut die-cuts finished and mailed out for a swap I am in at YPP-Your Paper Pantry . We were suppose to make any 3"-4" food related die cuts(coffee and cups are food related right!?). Then we are going to get 5 different die-cuts back and we are suppose to make a cookbook/recipe journal with them. It will be fun to see what other images the other girls made.
* I used Cricut carts: Celebrations and From My Kitchen.

I also have been working on this scarf for oldest DS...he liked the one I made him last Christmas and requested a dark gray scarf. Should be finished by the end of the week.
I never learned how to knit well, but picked up these Nifty-Knitter looms from Micheals/Joanns
(with a coupon, of course!) and was able to pick up on the patterns to make scarves and hats so far.
My reading this week is a book about couponing called "Pick Out Anther Checkout Lane, Honey"
I heard about the show called Extreme Couponing(not that I want to be a extreme couponer!) and it peaked my interest.. AND since we don't have a TV, I have been watching these Crazy Coupon ladies on YouTube. They have some great tips and last week alone I saved 40% on our grocery bills and stuff.
Here was just a trip to Target and everything was on sale, except the coffee...these were things I needed in my pantry! The Barilla spag. sauce was on sale and I had a $1 off coupon...it was 60 cents!
Now I am NOT spending hours cutting out coupons, BUT I am being more serious in looking for the best deals and if a coupon matches it and helps us to save some money, that works for me!

Have a wonderful week!

Update on my Mom

My dear mom had a wonderful birthday on 2/3/12. The nursing home had balloons for her and sang her "Happy Birthday". She has received 20 cards for her special day! (Thank- you to all those who sent one) The activities lady told mom that she was also going to get to Skype with me that same day. The office secretary set up the Skype on her computer and mom and I were able to see each other and chat. What fun it was to be able to see her and talk. My mom asked, "Is this costing you anything?" Of course I told her "No, mom."

So we set a time to Skype again past Friday...unfortunately, after 10 min we were disconnected and I was not able to reconnect with the nursing home. I need to call on Monday to see when I can set up another time to chat. Its great to be able to see her and hear how her week has went.

I love my mom. :-)

Mom's Birthday

Today is my dear mom's 82nd birthday! I wish I could be there to celebrate it with her but instead will have to settle for Skype! This will be the first time I have Skyped with her and am hoping that it all will work out. IF it does work then I have a way of seeing and talking with her every week!

You see, she is in a nursing home and it will be here first birthday there since her stroke last May. I can't wait to talk to her and find out if she liked my birthday package we sent and any cards she may have received.
I did ask some friends/family on Facebook to mail her a card for her special day and was so surprised at the number of gals wanting to sent her a card!

Will update later!
