Cold Here Tonight!

Brrrrr, I am downstairs in the basement/craftroom and it is a *wee* chilly down here tonight! Suppose to get down to below freezing!
Suppose to head out for a walk with dear hubby in a bit. I know its cold outside now, but it will be colder after dinner!

Just getting around to posting this...

Seth, our oldest son, turned 25 on 11/8...we had a celebration at his sister and brother-in-laws house. We have been having *family nights* at Shanon and Jadons. We plan a dinner and everyone pitches in on bringing stuff. So, we celebrated Seth's birthday even though it was a few days before. It has been so nice to catch up the kids who no longer live in our house! :-( We have really enjoyed our Sunday evenings together. Simon was at Youth at church and our Marine is in Okinawa. We miss them when they aren't with us!

Wednesday Already!

Well, I did get my walk in on Monday night with my hubby. It was a beautiful fall day and we walked across to the other neighborhood. We don't cross the main road to often because the traffic is thick on the week days. Since it was a holiday for us though, we went over. Its a change of scenery for us from walking our neighborhood! We walked last night, too. (but in our neighborhood)

On our walk, someone had put out a 3 drawer Sterilite container to throw out...hubby picked it up to bring home. I thought it was broken, but it was just missing a drawer. DH is so good to me, he knew I would need another place to store some crafts! I cleaned it up and let it dry outside today  and found another container to fit inside the missing drawer!

Hubby decided to go to the local ChickFilet 5 minutes away (surprised me...he left without telling me!) and picked up a free ice cream brownie sundae. (its my treat for the week!) We bought one of the calenders at the beginning of the year with a different freebie every month. It paid for it self after a few months of freebies!
(yes, will get another one when they come out...we love Chick Filet!)

Watching Bentley look outside the window just now. He enjoys being down here when I am on the *dinosaur pc*.  Bentley likes to jump up on the old dining table and lay down and look out. No nature-animal activity happening just now.

I am waiting for the washer to stop so I can load it into the dryer. The washer goes *off-kilter* at times and it saves me from running down the stairs.

Well, I am trying to keep up with my blog~

Looking Outside

Our computer caught a virus last week and we are waiting to upgrade to Windows 7. Hopefully, it will get done this week. In the mean time it forces me to come downstairs to the basement and my craft room. Cleaning my craft table...which I have been doing for weeks! The reason it is not cleaned off yet is because every time I come down I think about a project to start and start it!

Now I am sitting here on my *dinosaur* of a pc (but grateful to have it) and looking out the sliding door out into our backyard.Outside I see red birds, a squirrel. finches and the glorious sunshine. It had rained from last Thursday through Saturday late evening.A beautiful fall day!

A unexpected thing happened-the computer caught a *bug* and it turned into a wonderful blessing. Made me get off the social networks and do something constructive and look out into our backyard and see the creation God made just for this moment. Happy am I and now I am about to head outside for a walk.

Enjoy your day~

YPP card swaps

I participated in a couple of swaps over at Your Paper Pantry this past month and wanted to share the Halloween cards I did. I am not into the scary Halloween, and have these images from Stampin Up that I think are so cute.

August is Almost Over!!

Well, its almost time to get back to blogging. When our youngest is back to homeschooling (the day after Labor Day!) I will be able to keep up with this blog, while he is working on school work. :-)

There are many photos I have to share and will work on that this week, as well as, what has been happening in our home.

I am not the most eloquent of writers, but enjoy sharing about our family, my crafting, and sometimes baking/cooking and appreciate you all who look here and catch up with My Tinhair Musings!

MCT Graduation

Today, Joel graduated MCT training (Military Combat Training) down in NC! We drove down to watch and are so very proud he graduated!
He almost missed out, due to the fact they lost his paperwork-his MOS orders. (Military Occupational School) When Joel signed up for the Marines, he went into the Communication group and it had Bonus money attached to it when he completed his MOS. So, to say the least we were worried that he would not get the school/bonus since they were busily trying to find him a school. After two days filled with my paper work and waiting , the Marines got him into school. Although he had to fly down by himself the next day...he is now in Augusta, GA at Fort Gordon.
He had to wait a week and a half before his school started, but I hear that is good. A lot of his fellow Marine's have to wait a month/months till they are picked up for their schools. He is in Satellite Communications school. His school is like a 8-5 job and during the weekends he is off, but on those weekends he still has to share in some guard duty, helping to build an obstacle course, get his haircut every week!
The BEST part...we can text, call, email, and Skype with Joel!
Had to get his haircut before graduation

He was in the 1st platoon (there were 4 graduating)
                                                               Simon, Joel and dad
                                                           Joel's barracks

                                                       PROUD momma and pappa!

Marine Son Home!

Joels swearing in the day he left for boot camp.
Joel graduates and is now a MARINE!

Our son has been at Marine boot camp in Parris Island, SC since November 5th, 2012 and on Feb 1st he graduated as a MARINE. We drove him home and he has been home for 10 days and currently is a Recruiter's Assistant at his local Recruiters station till next Tuesday when he is scheduled to head down the Camp Greiger (Ft Lejune), NC for 29 days to complete MCT-Military Combat Training. Then after he graduates that he heads to California for his specialty traing in Communications. From there they will then assign him a permanent duty station. It has been wonderful to have him home again!
