Our Bentley

It was a sad day... Sept. 16th, 2024.

We got Bentley in 2012, he was a year old when we got him.

(you can read about him and our Tabby in the Cat tab) Our family has enjoyed that *good boy*. He even survived a 7 hour road trip last year from MD to our now home state.

                                                                    Our New home

Our kids liked to joke how much I fed him and how fat he had become. He tipped the scales at 19 pounds at one time. Bentley loved to follow us everywhere, especially whenever we were in the kitchen. I always said he was more like a dog then a cat. He meowed when spoken to, came when you called his name and just enjoyed being in the same room with you. He loved his family.

                                                                     He tried to fit...

Over the last few years though he had slowly started to slow down. His favorite time was chow time (of course!) In the morning I always fed him first. Then I would get coffee and listen to my Bible and then he enjoyed laying half on my lap until I got up.

                                                              Bentley having lap time

He had not been eating or drinking and just wanted to sleep and lay in his favorite spots.

We decided to take him to the Vet and found out he had a tumor. The hardest part was watching him take his last breath and having to tell our kids and Grands he was gone.

We miss you Bentley and are so glad you were a part of our family!

Bentley and his first vet visit

Our new kitty had to go to the vet last Saturday for his first check-up. Bentley LOVED the car ride over. He had to have a check-up before he was to be declawed. So, after two shots(rabies and distemper) and blood work...lets just say it took a bowl full of food and nap to get him settled down to his own self again!

So he was scheduled for the declawing this Weds. The vet just called and said he had some mild elevations in his blood work that had to do with his liver and he wants to have his blood retested in 5 weeks...so the declawing is off till we see what happens with the blood work.

Hoping it turns out to be nothing.

New furry member of the Family

Meet Bentley...he is one year old...a teenager for sure...very spunky! DH found a posting at work of a women in need of someone to take their cat. The son could not care for it any longer.
So, our middle son, Joel and I went to take a look and Bentley immediately went right to Joel and snuggled up to him. So we brought him home in this borrowed carrier from our dear neighbor(Thanks, Barb.) and he did quite well on the trip home.

Immediately he went about smelling everywhere in the house. I am sure he smelled that we must have had another cat.
Bentley wants to eat all the time, at least every 2 hours! BUT he is getting better, he must have figured out that the food will be provided when he wants it.

He finally settled down and for the first week he would follow the last person up the stairs and sleep at the top of the stairs in the hallway till someone came down in the morning...which is Scott.(who feeds him first!)

He is definitely a people person...he wants to be in the room with someone and will follow you around till you settle down!
